CLEVELAND (AP) — Something shocking has happened to the Browns Darren Fells Jersey , those bumbling, fumbling, quarterback-searching, coach-firing, draft-busting losers. They’ve disappeared. Maybe gone for good.“This is a new team,” said center JC Tretter. “We had goals we came into the season with, and we’re starting to show what we’re capable of. Obviously, it’s been a rough couple seasons for the Browns, but this team is a totally different team.”Totally.With an impressive 35-20 victory at Cincinnati on Sunday, the Browns (4-6-1) not only ended their 25-game road losing streak — one shy of the NFL record, but they posted consecutive wins for the first time since 2014. Cleveland also broke a seven-game skid against the Bengals, exacted some revenge on former coach Hue Jackson for rejoining a division rival, and pushed itself into the AFC playoff conversation, albeit as a long shot.As November fades, the Browns feel they’re getting stronger.“Being in the hunt in December is all you can really ask for when you start the season T. J. Carrie Color Rush Jersey ,” linebacker Joe Schobert said Monday. “Just to have meaningful games is big for the morale in the whole building, and as well as the fans and fan base that has been kind of starving for wins the last couple of years.“To be able to put ourselves in position for that is just a sign of a step forward as this organization.”The surge didn’t seem possible a few weeks ago after Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley were fired following an Oct. 28 loss in Pittsburgh. The same ol’ Browns were still sinking. But under interim coach Gregg Williams, and with running backs coach Freddie Kitchens calling plays better suited for Mayfield’s strengths, the Browns have turned around their season. They’re 2-1 since Williams took over and there has been a noticeable change in the team’s temperament. Penalties are down, the Browns are playing with a crispness and purpose, and they’re backing up big talk with bigger actions.Tretter, who has played the past month despite a severely sprained ankle, said Williams’ influence has been dramatic and decisive.“Discipline has been great,” he said. “It is something that we desperately needed. He has really reined everybody in and gotten everybody focused on one single goal. His leadership has been very strong. He fires up the team. He has that personality. Everybody knows that. He has just done a great job of really rallying the troops to one cause. You see that on Sundays.”Tretter said Williams has placed a premium on attention to detail. He’s holding players accountable for their mistakes and giving everyone clear expectations.“They’re spelled out for you, there’s no confusion about what’s going on,” Tretter said. “Every meeting hits on the same points over and over again, where there’s really no gray area of what’s expected of each player on this team. That has really helped us take that next step.“Obviously you always worry about that with a midseason transition, but Gregg’s done a great job of rallying the troops and getting everybody on the same page.”Williams will interview for Cleveland’s full-time job when the season ends, and while his resume gets a boost every time the Browns play well, his chances of being hired seem remote. However , as long as the Browns keep winning and Mayfield continues progressing, Williams’ stock will rise. The 60-year-old’s powerful personality has also rubbed off on his players, who didn’t miss a chance Sunday to get in their shots at Jackson, whether it was safety Damarious Randall handing the former coach the ball after an interception, or Mayfield giving him a cold shoulder following Cleveland’s win.Williams said he’s just being himself, and downplayed his impact as a disciplinarian.“I do not want to overblow it at all — I say what I mean and I mean what I say,” Williams said. “It is about being on time, doing things the right way, not doing things halfway and doing things all of the way. Ability alone does not win at this level. You have to go above and beyond.”Williams had been reluctant to mention any playoff possibilities, but last week used the postseason prize as a motivator to reinforce a bigger message: The Browns can make this season special.“You are starting to see a team that everybody in this building knew was here,” Tretter said. “We do understand that if we do take it one game at a time and everything goes our way, there is an opportunity to keep playing football games into January and into February, but that is something that we can’t look too far ahead on right now.”NOTES: Williams reported no major injuries from Sunday’s win. … Williams said he “can’t keep up with my texts and my voicemails” from friends and colleagues around the league who are impressed with the Browns. “It is not going unnoticed,” he said. The NFL is looking for the next generation of youth football stars to help usher in its second century. The league launched a casting call Sunday asking parents and youth coaches of boys and girls ages 9-12 to submit videos of the kids’ best moves on the football field for a chance to attend Super Bowl 54 in Miami and to appear in a follow-up commercial to last year's epic star-studded banquet spot that kicked off the league's 100th season. In that spot, some of the game's greats from past and present fought over a golden football that toppled from atop a giant cake when Marshawn Lynch's attempt to sneak a dollop of frosting went horribly — or was it wonderfully? — wrong."We kicked off the 100th season in a big way. Now we want to create an even bigger juggernaut commercial Browns Customized Color Rush Jerseys , even more ambitious than before, that serves as the passing of the torch to this next generation of superstars," NFL chief marketing officer Tim Ellis said.In a spot launching "The Next 100 Super Bowl Contest," Deion Sanders calls for parents and youth coaches to send in videos showcasing their kids' best moves and highlighting their passion for America's most popular sport.Thirty-two kids will be selected to attend the Super Bowl and appear in the new spot along with retired and current superstars."We started looking at a lot of the videos that kids are putting online of themselves playing and we were just blown away at how amazing some of their moves were and how good they were at that age," Ellis told The Associated Press. "I mean, some of these kids were doing these one-handed catches like Odell Beckham Jr. We were just all like clapping and yelling and celebrating like, how can these kids be this good at this age? It's incredible."Ellis said "the reason we wanted to get someone like Deion, who is a revered player by our generation, is that we knew he could help us get that level of awareness and get people really talking about this. And ultimately, our goal is to get this talked about on the school grounds, right? We want all the kids talking about it at school, together with their parents, among the community and really drive that level of passion and excitement to encourage kids to think about football in a different way and to actually participate."Sanders said he's honored to be involved in the new project that caps the league’s yearlong celebration of its centennial season."I didn't just become 'Prime Time' when I reached the NFL,” Sanders said. “It started on a youth football field in Fort Myers, Florida. That's when I was doing the Billy 'White Shoes' Johnson Cleveland Browns T-Shirts , emulating some of the stars that were prevalent and current in the NFL. That's where that started; I just took it to the next level, the next stage. And that's what some of these youngsters are having an opportunity to do."Parents and coaches, with parental permission, can submit their kids' video showcasing their skills at tackle or flag football at said he was especially thrilled the league is looking for both boys and girls: "My daughter, she played for my youth football team all the way up to 12 years old and she played tackle, not just flag, and she loved every minute of it.”A Hall of Fame defensive back who also starred in Major League Baseball, Sanders said some of today’s rising NFL stars such as Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson aren't just great football players but "bona fide athletes. They played dual sports coming up. These guys did it all. And that's the kind of love and excitement and passion that we want" to find in this national casting call.Ellis said the NFL is expecting "tens of thousands of videos" to be submitted and the league's teams will help narrow down the finalists."At the end of this commercial, we will say, 'Here's to the next 100,'” Ellis said. “So, we thought it was appropriate for us to use this unique opportunity as a passing of the torch.”Follow Arnie Melendrez Stapleton on Twitter:

TwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailKhalil Mack destroyed the league last season , but it came at a steep price for the Bears. What would have happened if Green Bay had been able to pull off such a deal? Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty ImagesThough the mobs have receded, there was a dark time earlier this year when the winter winds still blew cold in Wisconsin and Green Bay Packers fans wanted general manager Brian Gutekunst’s head on a pike. He had failed to give up the draft capital necessary to secure a transcendent defensive player who had instead been traded to the division rival, handing them the NFC North title and bragging rights. Reports at the time suggested the Raiders zeroed in on Ryan Pace and the Bears as a Khalil Mack destination because they believed Chicago would have the worst record of the teams interested. The logic is sound: Aaron Rodgers + Khalil Mack won’t net you much first-round value even with multiple picks. Packers president Mark Murphy confirmed this scenario to be true in an interview last week. Green Bay and Gutekunst made a significant push to acquire Mack, but Jon Gruden and the Oakland brain trust, such as it exists, locked their sights on the team they believed would benefit the least from Mack in the win column. This ameliorates concerns over penny pinching, or in this case draft pick pinching from the Packers, but also presents a fascinating sliding door scenario given what transpired over the last 10 months. How much does Mack, a dominant edge rusher who played at a Defensive Player of the Year level last year, change the fortunes of the Packers? Considering how many losses Green Bay accumulated in close games, it’s fair to believe Mack swings a handful of them even if we assume the Rodgers injury was inevitable. The tie to the Vikings should easily be a win. Mack could have flipped the two-point loss the Los Angeles and the three-point losses to Seattle and Arizona. That’s 10 wins right there. Likely have to subtract wins from Chicago without Mack and the Packers could have been in position to once again take the division, go to the playoffs and who knows from there? The NFC was wide open. Given what we know now about tensions between Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy, perhaps Murphy and Gutekunst would have been interested in making a change irrespective of the season’s outcome. But McCarthy certainly makes it to the end of the season. What if it had been the Packers who lost in the NFC Championship Game on a heart-breaking non-DPI call instead of New Orleans? Would that have been enough to secure McCarthy’s ouster? In that scenario, the Packers have Mike McCarthy in the last year of his contract, a 6-year $141 million deal for Mack with $90 million in guarantees and a $60 million signing bonus, and all the holes the roster had during the 2018 season at safety, guard, and outside linebacker opposite Mack. If their deal trumps Chicago’s offer (and the Jets were reportedly willing to give up two firsts as well), Gutekunst probably has to give up both firsts this year to get a deal done. Contrast that with where Green Bay finds itself at this moment. Giving up draft picks would mean no Rashan Gary or Darnell Savage. We have no idea how good either of those players are, but both are expected to be starters at some point Jason Spriggs Jersey , Savage as early as this season. What’s the plan at safety then if the Packers can neither afford to pay someone like Adrian Amos (who would either end up staying in Chicago or going elsewhere) nor draft Savage? Speaking of signings, basically all the moves the Packers made this offseason wouldn’t have been possible, as just the signing bonus for Mack was bigger than the total guarantees on all four major free agent contracts Gutekunst handed out. No Za’Darius or Preston Smith, or Billy Turner. Who is starting at outside linebacker opposite Mack? Green Bay may have been forced to keep Nick Perry, a player they were so willing to move on from, they’re eating $11 million of cap money this season just for him not to be on the field. There’s a case to be made Mack on his own provides more value than the Smiths and covers some of the value lost in not being able to sign Amos. Someone like Tre Boston on a vet minimum and Mack could be just as good or better than what the Packers got. Elgton Jenkins and/or Cole Madison slotting in at right guard would not be the end of the world (I think there’s a chance Jenkins is just better than Turner at guard anyway). LaFleur provides the hammer here. If he’s worthy of his pedigree, the disciple of Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay, we have the answer. Even if all the players and draft picks the Packers would have had to give up for Mack provide commensurate value, the difference is the assurance of an upgrade in coaching. That assumes LaFleur is that, which he’ll have to be for this equation to balance in favor of the team he now coaches. Green Bay’s fatal flaw last season came from a lack of creativity and synergy on offense, along with a failure of depth on defense. Gutekunst attempted to fix both those things this offseason, installing new new starters at outside linebacker—durable, flexible players—two new starters at safety, and a new starting guard. He brought in offensive line and pass rush depth via the draft and insulated this team against injuries. Mack provides an incandescent talent, but what happens if the team crumbles around him due to injury? What if he’d been injured? Even the Bear, with Vic Fangio and a talented group, struggled at times when Mack was out. We won’t know what the sliding door would have brought. Everything changes if that trade goes down differently. It’s a moot point considering the Packers never truly had a chance to make such a deal. But this season we’ll start to learn if it turns out Green Bay benefited from not making the move considering the subsequent roster machinations that were ultimately made. Fans can take solace knowing Mack is in Chicago just because of a lack of effort on the part of their team. However, none of that matters if the Packers still can’t win games. Did Mark Murphy and Brian Gutekunst make the right moves in the stead of a Mack trade? We’ll start to get answers beginning on Thursday. The Green Bay Packers are 0-6 on the road in 2018. The team has been outscored 173 to 125 in those six games, and despite some close contests and near-comebacks, they have made crucial mistakes late in games to throw away their chances of remaining in the NFC playoff hunt.As rumors about Mike McCarthy’s job status continue to swirl Mike Daniels Color Rush Jersey , a few of his former players took to Twitter to reminisce about how he handled a similarly disappointing season a decade ago. The 2008 Packers finished their season 6-10, thanks in large part to a defense that frequently gave up leads late in games. That team actually outscored its opponents by 2.4 points per game, but could not close out games when they had late leads, eventually leading to the firing of defensive coordinator Bob Sanders, who was replaced by Dom Capers. That year, the Packers lost each of their final five road games, finishing 1-7 away from Lambeau Field. Defensive back and return man Will Blackmon got the conversation started during Sunday night’s 24-17 victory by the Minnesota Vikings, thinking back to when McCarthy apparently refused to allow his team to have good accommodations when they traveled. For those unfamiliar, The First 48 is a true crime television show on A&E that focuses on homicide investigations.Blackmon specifically mentioned former Packers teammates James Jones and Charles Woodson above, and the two piped up to concur with his sentiments a little later:Ryan Grant, who rushed for over 1,200 yards that season, also got in on the fun:The Packers apparently did get to stay in a nicer place before their fifth and final consecutive road loss, however:And then there’s linebacker Brady Poppinga, who had a very different take on the hotel situation during that season:Still, Blackmon has a sense of humor about the whole situation. He correctly noted after the discussion that the Packers went out and won Super Bowl XLV two seasons later — and said that the players actually got a kick out of that policy at the time. He also said that he “loved” McCarthy, so clearly he does not hold any ill will towards his former head coach.Regardless, it’s interesting to see former Packers discussing McCarthy when he is clearly fighting for his job.

INDIANAPOLIS — Jason Garrett and Frank Reich understand the high stakes of Sunday’s game.If Dallas wins , it clinches the NFC East. If Indianapolis wins, it stays in the hunt for the AFC’s final playoff spot and possibly even a division crown. The two coaches and their players will get one more precious late-season chance to see how they stack up against another postseason contender.“Most people call this the dash for cash,” Colts tight end Eric Ebron said. “So you just try to win.”Few teams have done more winning lately than the Colts (7-6) and Cowboys (8-5).Rather than folding after starting 1-5, Andrew Luck and Co. turned things around with six wins in seven games and tying Baltimore, Miami and Tennessee for the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoff chase.Luck’s comeback has happened during perhaps the best season of his career. He has 34 touchdown passes — second in the league and six short of his career high — and a career-best completion rate of 67.7 percent. He is 241 yards away from the fourth 4,000-yard season of his career. This time, Luck also is working with an improved defense that has allowed 17.1 points per game over the past seven weeks and ranks among the league’s top third in sacks and negative plays. The combination has upped the ante for Indy’s opponents.“They attack you a lot of different ways,” Garrett said. “It’s aggressive, it’s attacking and it’s a balanced offense. You have to be ready for a lot of different things.”Dallas also made a dramatic midseason turn. After starting 3-5, the Cowboys made a deal for receiver Amari Cooper and everything suddenly changed.Running back Ezekiel Elliott has charged back into the NFL rushing lead and quarterback Dak Prescott started making more potent plays. Dallas’ defense has climbed to No. 4 in yards allowed.People around town believe the Cowboys could win their first divisional-round game since the 1995 playoffs — if they make it.“It will be a great challenge. It’s going to take every person over there, but I think defenses like that challenge,” Reich said when asked about slowing down Elliott. “I know our defense will like that challenge. It’s not going to be easy J'Marcus Webb Jersey , they are going to get some runs. If Zeke has 95 yards, that might be considered a win.”TACKLING STARSWhile much of the focus this weekend will be on high-profile offensive stars such as Luck and Prescott, rookie linebackers Darius Leonard and Leighton Vander Esch will play big roles, too.The league’s official stats show Leonard leading the league with 135 tackles despite missing one game with an injury. Vander Esch has played well, too. The Cowboys credit him with 136 tackles, tied for the franchise’s rookie record, while league stats show him with 108 — tied for No. 6 overall and second among rookies to Leonard.LINE DANCEWhile Colts starting center Ryan Kelly could return after missing three straight games with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, Cowboys right guard Zack Martin will miss a game for the first time in his career in what would’ve been his first trip to his hometown.Martin, a four-time Pro Bowler and 2014 All-Pro, sprained the MCL in his left knee during the preseason and left both games against defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia after aggravating the injury. He returned to the first Philadelphia game, but didn’t come back in last week’s victory.Kelly, meanwhile Jordan Wilkins Color Rush Jersey , was limited in practice Wednesday. He said he hopes to play through the pain with a brace. Before he was injured, the Colts allowed one sack in six games. Indy has given up six sacks in the three games he missed.REJOINING THE YOUNGSTERS?Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee practiced this week for the first time since leaving a game Nov. 5 against Tennessee with his second hamstring injury this season. He could rejoin the linebacker rotation Sunday. If he does, the focus will be on how it works.Vander Esch and Lee play the same position and 23-year-old Jaylon Smith, a former Notre Dame star, also played well this season. The two youngsters have embraced playing big roles while Lee, a 2014 All-Pro choice, was on the mend.FANCY FEETEight Colts players will wear special cleats this weekend to promote various charities.Luck will wear shoes bearing Indianapolis’ renowned Riley Hospital for Children, which he has worked with since being drafted No. 1 overall in 2012.Three players — Leonard, linebacker Anthony Walker and safety Mathias Farley — are using their cleats to draw attention to the Edwin Jackson 53 Foundation. Jackson, a Colts linebacker, was killed in a traffic accident in February.100<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj Mehta Colts' Parris Campbell is 'a 'Percy Harvin talent,' says college coach Urban Meyer'We took it 80 yards against our rivals and they can't even touch his shirt ,' Urban Meyer said. The Lions made the signing official shortly thereafter.Kearse is coming off an uninspiring 2018 with the Jets, having caught just 37 passes for 371 yards and one touchdown. He was traded from Seattle to New York prior to the 2017 regular season, in exchange for Sheldon Richardson. Kearse seemed to flourish in his increased role with the Jets offense in that particular season, catching 65 passes for 810 yards (both career-highs) and five touchdowns. The 29-year-old is a Washington native who starred at the University of Washington Russell Wilson Color Rush Jersey , joining the Seahawks as a UDFA in 2012. He’s been part of quite a few of the most important moments in Seahawks history, including the go-ahead TD in the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers, the game-winning overtime TD in the following NFC CG against the Green Bay Packers, and his circus catch in Super Bowl XLIX vs. the New England Patriots was so amazing that the NFL declared the Seahawks winners despite trailing 28-24 at the time. After a solid 2015 that (at the time) represented his best season to date, Kearse signed a contract extension, but he struggled mightily in 2016 and thus became a trade asset entering 2017.By going to Detroit, Kearse will be reunited with newly hired offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who’s back in the NFL after he was fired by the Seahawks at the end of 2017. The Lions also have former Seahawks CB Justin Coleman on the squad, although Kearse had already been traded before Coleman was brought over.I also want to give kudos to this guy for an aggressively punny tweet. The 49ers called on Chase McLaughlin to tie Monday’s game with a 47-yard kick against the Seahawks at the end of regulation and McLaughlin came through with his third field goal of the night.McLaughlin then got a chance to cap his 49ers debut with a game-winning kick in overtime Brandon Marshall Color Rush Jersey , but things didn’t go as smoothly this time. McLaughlin was trying from 47 yards again, but missed badly to the left and the Seahawks would go on to a 27-24 win when Jason Myers put his kick through the uprights.“I don’t know exactly what happened,” McLaughlin said, via “I’ll have to look at it on film, but I rushed it a little bit and hit it a little high. Unfortunately, I missed it.”McLaughlin’s stay with the Niners will be brief if Robbie Gould‘s groin injury resolves itself ahead of a Week 11 game against the Cardinals. That would likely be the case had McLaughlin made his overtime kick as well, but the parting of the ways would have felt a lot different.

Packers vs. Steelers Justin McCray Jersey , Preseason 2018: First half game updates & discussion Tonight, the Green Bay Packers take the field for their second preseason game of 2018, hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers in a battle of players trying to make the rosters of the two legendary franchises. For Pittsburgh, the stars are sitting — Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, and Cameron Heyward will not dress for the game, and running back Le’Veon Bell is still holding out. We’re looking for more readers to join the Acme Packing Company FanPulse group and weigh in on polls tracking the Packers’ 2018 season!Click here for more information or click here to sign up.It’s not all bubble players on the field for the Packers, however. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has said that he expects to play tonight, and head coach Mike McCarthy indicated that it was his plan as well to get his veteran leader on the field. The question will be how much will we see of #12 and will we also see the rest of the team’s starters?A few players we know we will see are the Packers’ young wide receivers Preston Smith Jersey , who largely impressed in the opener last week. Marquez Valdes-Scantling had the biggest numbers, with a five-catch, 101-yard, one-touchdown performance, while Jake Kumerow’s 52-yard touchdown reception put a bow on the game for Green Bay. Will they keep up their recent success? Of course, when serving as Northwestern’s athletic director, Murphy hired Fitzgerald as the school’s head football coach Ty Summers Jersey 2019 , making the connection between the two appear quite strong. However, following Northwestern’s 31-20 victory over Utah in the Holiday Bowl on Monday night, Fitzgerald was asked about the possibility that he could leave Evanston for another opportunity — presumably the Packers job. His response was emphatic:“Hashtag Go Cats, man. I’m not going anywhere. This is home forever.”That can probably end any speculation about Fitzgerald becoming the Packers’ head coach. Although other coaches have made similar statements in the past and backtracked, Fitzgerald truly is in his dream job, having grown up just outside of Chicago and played his college football for the Wildcats. Although the Packers reportedly planned to submit their request to interview Fitzgerald following the bowl game, given those comments they may not bother to do so.Meanwhile, we now have confirmation that the Packers will indeed interview New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, as expected. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the team will interview McDaniels on Friday of this week Jace Sternberger Green Bay Packer , which is allowed under the NFL’s interview rules. The Patriots have a first-round bye, meaning teams can interview that team’s coaches in the week leading up to the Wild Card games. The team also plans to interview New Orleans tight ends coach Dan Campbell after talking to McDaniels, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. If the Patriots or Saints advance to the Super Bowl, the first opportunity that the Packers would have for follow-up interviews would be in the week following the Conference Championship games. Finally, Rapoport also indicated that Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio will interview with the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos next Monday. It would appear that the Packers are not considering Fangio at this time, as there have been no reports of the team reaching out to interview him. However, they could be waiting until next week to request an interview, since the Bears are playing in a Wild Card game and Fangio is unavailable to meet with teams until after that round of games.Keep it here at Acme Packing Company for more news on the Packers’ search.

in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft Ben Gedeon Jersey , but he’ll be following in Treadwell’s footsteps in Minnesota.Doctson was waived by Washington on Saturday around the same time that the Vikings cut Treadwell after three dismal seasons. Neither player was claimed by another team and Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Vikings are signing Doctson. The move gives the Vikings the fifth receiver that head coach Mike Zimmer suggested they’d be signing after only keeping four on their initial 53-man roster. Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, Chad Beebe and Olabisi Johnson make up that quartet. It also reunites Doctson with Kirk Cousins after the duo hooked up for 37 catches for 568 yards and six touchdowns over 18 games together in Washington. Doctson had 44 catches for 532 yards and two touchdowns while playing without Cousins last year. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kirk Cousins was an eager young quarterback and Sean McVay was a precocious offensive coordinator when they got together in Washington. After they collaborated on two tremendously productive seasons, the partnership led to big things for both men: McVay became the NFL’s youngest head coach in Los Angeles, and Cousins got an $84 million contract in Minnesota.“I’m very grateful for having crossed paths with him,” Cousins said. “And I’m always rooting for him. But certainly, though, we want to get the ‘W’ this week.”Indeed Cameron Smith Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , they’re getting back together Thursday night in a compelling early season NFC showdown between McVay’s Rams (3-0) and Cousins’ Vikings (1-1-1).And both say they wouldn’t be there under the Coliseum lights without the other.“I feel fortunate to have worked with Kirk,” McVay said.“Sometimes you hear people talk about not having the strongest arm or whatever, (but) I’m not sure what film they’re watching,” McVay added.“He can make every single throw. I think he has the ability to speed it up with excellent twitch. He can change the launch point. So you’re not limited in any way that you can utilize him. And I couldn’t be happier for Kirk, and I’ll be rooting for him the rest of the year after Thursday night.”Their meeting will be an interesting barometer for both teams’ early season fortunes. The Rams have been largely outstanding during their unbeaten start to a season that has picked up right where McVay’s first team left off.But coach Mike Zimmer’s Vikings defense gave perhaps the most impressive performance of last season against the high-octane Rams, who managed only one early touchdown from Todd Gurley in a 24-7 loss at Minnesota.“We didn’t run the ball as well as we had in other games against this defense,” said Aaron Kromer, the Rams’ running game coordinator. “They’re a stout defense. They’re built to stop the run. That’s their No. 1 goal. … We have to do a much better job. I think we’re a lot smarter football team than we were in the past Minnesota Vikings Jerseys 2019 , so I hope that shows on Thursday night.”More things to watch:WEEKNIGHT PARTYThe Rams realize Thursday afternoon isn’t an ideal time to brave LA traffic for a football game at a stadium undergoing renovation that has severely curtailed its parking and tailgating. So they’re trying to make this important NFC game into a civic duty: McVay sent out a funny “memo” through newspapers and social media to all employers in Los Angeles, urging them to allow their employees to leave work early so they can head downtown for the 5:20 p.m. local start time — which he says is the “typical bedtime” of his 71-year-old defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips. They also got Vanessa Hudgens to sing the national anthem, while Compton rapper YG will perform in the second quarter.EARLY DEPARTUREThe Vikings flew to Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, hoping to better acclimate to the two-time-zone change. The Vikings are 1-5 in Thursday night road games, winning only at Dallas in 1978. Traveling cross-country to play one of the NFL’s best teams with three days of rest is a daunting task.“Yeah, it’s a problem,” coach Mike Zimmer said. “We haven’t had a home game on a short week since I’ve been here in five years. But you play the schedule how it is.”NOT A FANThe Rams are also unenthused about their short-week schedule Cameron Smith Jersey nfl draft , although they’re grateful they got to stay home for it. McVay joked that he’s running on “maybe two” hours of sleep per night. Last weekend, Gurley summed up many players’ feelings about Thursday football: “It’s the dumbest thing ever.”GOING WITHOUT GRIFFENThe Vikings will play without defensive end Everson Griffen, a captain and three-time Pro Bowl pick. The former USC star won’t make his Coliseum return while he is sidelined indefinitely for treatment of mental illness following a pattern of erratic and threatening behavior. With players, coaches and staff concerned about Griffen’s well-being, the show must go on. Stephen Weatherly had his first career sack against the Bills while starting in place of Griffen.INJURED CORNERSThe Rams have bigger problems than a late start time: Their star-studded defense is suddenly short-handed after former Pro Bowl cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters both incurred injuries in last week’s win over the Chargers.Talib needs ankle surgery and will be out for at least eight weeks. Peters’ calf injury isn’t so serious, but still might keep him out. The Rams are likely to go against Cousins with backup cornerbacks including Sam Shields, Troy Hill and Nickell Robey-Coleman.“I feel like we’re going to be great,” Robey-Coleman said. “I can’t take away from the hard work that every guy on this depth chart put in to get an opportunity to get on the field.”SLOW STARTAfter ranking seventh in the NFL last season in yards rushing Adult Cameron Smith Jersey , the Vikings are next-to-last with just 66 yards per game, although they’ve been throwing excessively with two late deficits in their first three games. There still hasn’t been much room for Dalvin Cook or Latavius Murray to run, and going against the Rams’ stout defensive line won’t help. Pat Elflein will return to the starting lineup at center, his rehab from offseason surgeries finally complete.“We’re not in panic mode. We’re not in that,” said Cook, who is expected to play after sitting out last week’s loss to Buffalo. “We’re going to get this thing going. It’s just a matter of time.”

EAST RUTHERFORD White Neal Sterling Jerseys , N.J. (AP) — Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller left the game against the New York Jets on Saturday night with an ankle injury and was questionable to return.Miller was injured early in the first quarter Saturday when he went down after a 1-yard run. He tried to get up and walk it off before going back down to the turf and being attended to by trainers.Miller was able to walk to sideline on his own and returned to the game on Houston's next possession. But he left the game again early in the second quarter and headed to the locker room with trainers. He remained on the sideline at the start of the second half. Miller had 8 yards on three carries against the Jets. He leads the Texans with 917 yards rushing this season.Jets starting right tackle Brandon Shell was carted off the field early in the third quarter with a knee injury. He was blocking during a passing play when left guard Spencer Long rolled into his left leg.Shell immediately grabbed at his left knee as trainers ran onto the field to check on him. After a few moments, Shell was helped on a cart as most of his Jets teammates and several Texans players came over to him for pats on the back. The Jets announced Shell was doubtful to return. He was replaced by Brent Qvale.Texans nose tackle Brandon Dunn also left with an ankle injury and was questionable to return. Jets wide receiver Rishard Matthews was doubtful to come back after injuring a hamstring. Derek Carr refused to downplay what had just happened to him and the Oakland Raiders.Their three-game winning streak was over — before the third quarter even ended.“We got our butts kicked,” Carr said after the Raiders’ 34-3 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday. “There’s no other way around that. They got after us from start to finish. Hopefully, it’s an eye opener. Hopefully we take it and learn from it like we did earlier in the season against the Vikings.“We got our face kicked in a little bit.”The Raiders (6-5) were 1-2 after a 34-14 loss at Minnesota in Week 3, but bounced back to win two in a row. They lost two straight after that, but then put together the three-game streak they brought with them into a rain-soaked MetLife Stadium.Oakland had its sights on a possible AFC West first-place showdown at Kansas City next week. Instead Neal Sterling Jerseys 2019 , they got outplayed by a suddenly resurgent Jets (4-7) team that pulled away in the second half.“We’d better show up or they’re going to beat us by 50,” Carr said of the Chiefs. “They’re a really good football team, one of the best in the NFL. Hopefully our guys, myself included, when we show up at Arrowhead a week from now, we’re ready to go. And I believe we will be.”The Raiders were held to a season-low 208 total yards on offense White Doug Middleton Jerseys , unable to do much of anything against a stingy Jets defense.Rookie Josh Jacobs, fourth in the NFL in rushing, was held to 34 yards on 10 carries. The Jets came in allowing a league-low 79.1 yards rushing, and gave up 68 to Oakland — also a season low for the Raiders.“They just had a better game plan than us,” Jacobs said.Meanwhile, the Jets racked up 401 total yards Doug Middleton Jerseys 2019 , with Sam Darnold throw for 315 of them with two touchdowns. He also ran for a score.“You ever been on a boat that’s sinking? It’s not happy,” coach Jon Gruden said. “It’s not pleasant. It’s adversity. It’s football. You’ve got to respond to adversity. We didn’t do a good enough job as coaches rallying our troops today. I’m not going to say much more. I’m emotional about it.“I’m really anxious to get on to the next game.”That’s because there wasn’t much to like about this one from the Raiders’ standpoint.“If you’re not on your game, you’re in for trouble,” Gruden said. “I hope the players listen after the game. We’ve got a tight group of players. We’ve got some very good veterans. We’re 6-5. It’s Thanksgiving week. It’s a long trip out here to New Jersey. We’ve got a long trip back to California. We’ve got a long trip next week and hopefully we’re going to be ready to play. Hopefully we’re going to play a lot better.”Oakland was still in at halftime, trailing 13-3. But the Jets came out quickly to start the second half and didn’t let up.On New York’s third play of the third quarter, Braxton Berrios took a short pass from Darnold on a slant and zipped down the field for 69 yards before being pushed out of bounds at the 1. Darnold found a wide-open Ryan Griffin for a touchdown on the next play. The Jets defense then came up big on Oakland’s first possession of the second half White Brandon Copeland Jerseys , stuffing Alec Ingold for no gain on fourth-and-1 from the Raiders 39.New York took over and used some razzle-dazzle, with Darnold handing off to Bilal Powell, who flipped it to Jamison Crowder — who then tossed it back to the Jets quarterback. Darnold then threw to Robby Anderson, who reached up for a 30-yard gain. Three plays later, Darnold connected with Anderson again for a 1-yard touchdown. On the Raiders’ next possession, Carr’s first-down pass was deflected by Neville Hewitt and landed in the hands of Brian Poole Brandon Copeland Jerseys 2019 , who returned it 15 yards for the sealing touchdown. After one more series, Carr — who went 15 of 27 for 127 yards — was pulled by Gruden with the game out of reach.“We’re not the ’85 Bears,” Gruden said. “We’re a development football team. We’re developing our roster. We’re making strides. Today was a setback. We’re going to give our preparation every ounce of diligence that we can. We know what we’re up against at Arrowhead. They’re coming off a bye week, so it’s not going to be easy.”

The New England Patriots had a favorable schedule over the first five weeks of the season White Danny Shelton Jerseys , not just because of their opponents: the reigning world champions also played four straight 1:00 pm games between Week 2 and Week 5, allowing them to start the regular season in a nice rhythm. That rhythm, however, will get disrupted this week as the New York Giants will come to Foxborough in only three days for a primetime game between the two clubs.Needless to say that the Patriots will have to make a quick turnaround following their 33-7 victory against the Washington Redskins, something quarterback Tom Brady also pointed out during his postgame press conference on Sunday. When asked about the challenges of playing a Thursday nighter, the 42-year-old stated that he and his team have to “use the time every bit from now until game time to get ready physically and mentally.”In the past, New England has been very good at adjusting to short weeks. The club has played a regular Thursday Night Football game — not counting the NFL season opener, which also takes place on Thursdays — every year since 2012, and is a perfect 7-0 in those contests while winning with an average score of 29.9-14.1. Last year, for example, the Patriots defeated the visiting Indianapolis Colts with a final score of 38-24.In order to also come away victoriously against the Giants, New England head coach Bill Belichick identified multiple challenges his team will have to overcome during the week — both in terms of execution on Thursday and preparation over the next few days: “Understanding of the Giants, and getting mentally ready. They have very challenging schemes on offense Danny Shelton Jerseys 2019 , defense, and special teams.”Patriots on Thursday Night Football (since 2012)2012 at New York Jets: W 49-192013 vs New York Jets: W 13-102014 vs New York Jets: W 27-252015 vs Miami Dolphins: W 36-72016 vs Houston Texans: W 27-02017 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: W 19-142018 vs Indianapolis Colts: W 38-24“The mental part of it is challenging, certainly the physical part of it,” added Belichick. “When you think about it, [Sunday] is Wednesday and we play on Sunday. It’s a lot for the players to rebound from. I’m sure they will do everything they can to be as physically ready as possible. So it’s a combination of two things, you have to just balance it. One without the other is not enough so you have to try and get both.”When it comes to planning the game and the practices leading up to it, Belichick pointed out that the team will have to strike a balance between shortening the playbook and possibly not getting as much repetitions per play: “Hopefully, things line up that you want to do things in the game plan that you’ve been doing or are a part of your system. Repping a play isn’t really an issue because you know how to do it [...] so when those things line up, that’s relatively easy.”“The hard part would be if they do something that forces you to do things a little bit differently or maybe there’s an area that you want to try to attack, but it’s not part of your normal system,” Belichick added. “Do you step outside the box a little bit and spend time to get that ready on a short week, or do you say it’s too much and that you just won’t be able to execute it? Or, maybe White Josh Gordon Jerseys , you have three or four ideas like that and you pick out one or only two of them because you just run out fo time and opportunity to prepare for them.”“That’s really the question and we’ll have to pull that together,” he continued. “When you do a normal game plan, you kind of chop it up into some sections on offense and defense: early downs, third down, red area, two-minute. Something could come up in any one of those, and you add it and it’s not a big deal. When you’re getting ready for a game like this, you have to kind of put it all together at once or maybe two sections, but it’s not the normal time frame that you have.”“And then if you start piling on, ‘Oh, well, we’re going to do this in the red area, do this in two-minute Josh Gordon Jerseys 2019 , and do this on third down, do this on early downs,’ and before you know it, the volume can accelerate pretty quickly,” Belichick said when discussion the issues of working on a shorter-than-usual schedule. He added that it would definitely be a challenge — in part because of an opponent he called well-coached — for the entire team.Whether or not the Patriots will be able to rise up to it remains to be seen. What should help them at least somewhat, however, is the experience both the coaching staff and the players have: Belichick and his team have been in a lot of challenging situations over the years, and proven themselves adaptable. It should therefore not be a surprise to see the club once again stay on top of things heading into its mini-bye. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsOne of the NFL’s premier defenders of the last decade White Jonathan Jones Jerseys , and a one-time member of the New England Patriots, announced his retirement today: Chris Long took to social media to break the news of him stepping away from pro football after eleven seasons and two Super Bowl victories.Long originally entered the NFL as the second overall pick of the 2008 draft. He started his career with the then-St. Louis Rams, for whom he appeared in 114 games, and achieved some early individual success. The team itself, however, was mediocre at best during his eight seasons in St. Louis. Finally, after the 2015 season, the club opted to part ways with the veteran defender who had amassed 54.5 sacks up to this point.Long’s career was far from over, though: the Patriots picked him up as a free agent and he quickly became a core member of their defensive edge rotation. As such, he not only helped the team surrendered the fewest points in the league in 2016 but he also earned his first ever trip to the playoffs — and it was a successful one: New England won all three of its postseason contests, with the final one being Super Bowl 51.Against the Atlanta Falcons, Long was involved in a pivotal series in the game: with the Patriots down eight late in the fourth quarter and the Falcons driving into field goal range, the defender was held on a pass rushing attempt. The penalty pushed Atlanta further out of field goal range and helped set up New England’s game-tying drive — which in turn set up the club’s victory in the first Super Bowl to go to overtime. After the 2016 season Jonathan Jones Jerseys 2019 , Long moved on from the Patriots. His success continued, however, to the dismay of New England: now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Virginia product earned his second championship when his new club beat his old one in Super Bowl 52. All in all, Long spent the final two years of his pro career in Philadelphia before stepping away from the game at the age of 34.Long, who registered 4.0 sacks in New England, was not just a tremendous player on the field but also an outstanding person off it. The best example of this came in 2017, when he decided to donate his entire year’s salary to charity. The NFL is certainly losing one of its best characters today.

much better night Ryan Connelly NFL Draft ,” and more What were the New York Giants saying after Friday’s 30-17 victory over the Detroit Lions in preseason action? Let’s go inside the locker room and find out.Davis Webb’s “much better night”Coach Pat Shurmur said the second-year quarterback, starting in place of Eli Manning, was “calmer” and “had a much better night” than he did against the Cleveland Browns last week. Webb went 14 of 20 for 140 yards and a touchdown.“I’m pretty confident in my ability,” Webb said. “I just think I needed to hit the reset button and kind of figure out how I want to play football. I want to play football at a smooth, calm level, and again, I didn’t play my best game tonight. Guys around me made plays.”Wayne Gallman, who caught Webb’s touchdown pass, had this to say:“He’s a player. We all know he’s a player, Davis is the first one in the building and the last one out. He’s very dedicated. When he does have those downtimes, he doesn’t dwell on them. He gets right back into it and that’s why I’m glad he came back from last week where he didn’t have the best game to this game where he did way better. He had a good game Ryan Connelly Buffalo Bills Jersey , so I’m proud of him.”Shurmur on not playing Eli Manning“I made the decision earlier in the week that I wasn’t going to play Eli,” Shurmur said. “Here’s the thing with Eli and Odell, I felt like we were going to get better than practice work against Detroit for two days. They got a lot of good work and the unintended consequence of that, it allowed us to give Davis Webb more work. Because Odell got his work, we didn’t want to put him out there.”Quote of the day— Shurmur on Kyle Lauletta’s rushing touchdown Wayne GallmanGallman had 5 carries for 26 yards and 2 catches for 9 yards. He had an 11-yard rushing touchdown and an 8-yard receiving touchdown. After the game, he talked about how much different he feels as a second-year player.“I feel way more comfortable. You know, it’s a thing where we went through a lot last year, so I know I learned a lot. From what I learned, going into this year, really worked on in the offseason, pretty much everything from the passing game Youth Phil Simms Jerseys , to the running game, to whatever I need to work on in terms of confidence and it’s showing,” Gallman said. “I am having fun out there. I’m not so much worried about knowing the play because I already know it and just out there letting it loose.”Lauletta on his readiness for the seasonThe fourth-round pick went 2-of-5 for 27 yards and was part of touchdown drives of 12 and 59 yards, taking one of those in himself with the aforementioned “nifty” 10-yard run.“Good. I think I’m coming along. A couple of throws that I wish that I had back, a couple of near misses. I think it was the right throw, right decision, just missed him by a yard or two and that will happen,” Lauletta said. “But we moved the ball well and we put up points, so I’m just happy with the way that the whole team played and the way we came out with the win.”Olivier Vernon on his role in the defense“Still, rushing the passer. Nothing really changed about that, so Phil Simms Jerseys Stitched , just the mentality. That just makes it a little more aggressive. So, that’s pretty cool,” Vernon said.— “Kudos” to Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit for passing along transcripts, and for the practice reports he provided leading up to the gamer. Giants rookie Corey Ballentine will live with what happened to him on April 28 the rest of his life, as he was shot and his best friend was killed the night he was drafted into the NFL.And while he’s recovered to compete in training camp, the bullet wound to his rear was more serious than many realized.“It was worse than what people thought it was,’’ Ballentine told Paul Schwartz of the .Ballentine said the bullet is still lodged in his body, and he was told it would set off metal detectors at airports. When it entered his buttocks, it cracked his hip bone, and doctors told him at the time he wouldn’t be able to run for six weeks. He wasn’t able to participate in minicamp, but started working his way back during OTAs Youth Doug Kotar Jerseys , and has recovered fully and appears safely among the 53 players the Giants will keep.“Bones heal,’’ Ballentine said. “I’m just glad it wasn’t worse. It could have hit an artery or something like that. I’m really just glad I could recover from it and I’m still here.’’While the loss of his friend Dwane Simmons will linger, Ballentine has said he wants to honor Simmons by playing well, and so far in Giants camp he has.“What it really taught me was I’ve been through so much to get here, you know, and I never realized, I don’t think I gave myself enough credit for the things I’ve had to push though as far as adversity,’’ Ballentine said. “Just pushing through that, it kinda put things in perspective. It was kinda like ‘You’re stronger than you think you are mentally.’ ’’And now that he’s physically well, he can continue to prove it.

He’s taken the team through a couple of minicamps Color Rush Jace Sternberger Jersey , said some nice things about some draft picks, and given us a vague outline of what he hopes to accomplish this year. In short, he hasn’t done a lot as head coach. At least, not a lot that we can see from the outside. But sooner or later, the real football will begin. And when it does, it’s only fair that we have some expectations by which we can measure his success. Here’s what we’re expecting from LaFleur in 2019.Paul Noonan - Run too much, but good deceptionI’m conflicted on LaFleur, or at least what I think LaFleur will be. On the one hand, I expect the percentage of Packer runs to increase a fair amount. Some of that is based on LaFleur’s tendencies, part of that is based on a possibly wrong idea that Rodgers will stay in structure more leading to fewer audibles, and part of it is just based on the idea that you can’t pass much more than they did last year.On the other hand, LaFleur does seem to make decent use of that run commitment in terms of willingness to pass out of run-heavy sets. I am a fan of deception, and using run-heavy looks in passing can lead to big plays, and easy passes. I like LaFleur’s potential as a tactician Cheap Jace Sternberger Jersey , and given the youth of their receivers, his brand of offensive may be just what they need. I’m don’t expect them to be on par with the 2010-11 glory days, but if the defense improves and Aaron’s Y/A jumps up a yard, that’ll play. Shawn Wagner - Back to the basicsRunning the football is not as popular in today’s NFL as it once was but I, like Paul, expect the Packers to run plenty in LaFleur’s offense. In describing concepts he is seen in video so far, Aaron Rodgers appears pleasantly excited about getting to work and putting players in positions that best utilize their skill sets.Sounds simple, but it was something Green Bay has really struggled to do on both sides of the ball in recent seasons. While I remain cautious and well aware that the grass is not always greener on the other side, I expect the Packers offense to return to some of the basic concepts (quick inside slants, screen passes, and others) that once made it so highly successful in the early Rodgers years. With Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, and Dexter Williams in the fold, the Packers should have plenty of ground weapons at LaFleur’s disposal to use the running game to set up the pass and create big-play opportunities. Returning to the basics also means helping Rodgers get back to a comfort zone in getting the ball out sooner and trusting his early progressions. That might be easier said than done Jace Sternberger Jersey Womens , but doing so would go a long way in fixing some of the mid-game stalls the unit has gone through over the past two seasons.Whether it is college football or professional football, it can be difficult and sometimes unrealistic to have very high expectations in year one of a coaching change. However, the Packers under LaFleur could do well, especially with an influx of talent in the offseason, in focusing on a more simplistic style of offense and being adaptable to the tools of that talent. Evan “Tex” Western - A more creative and visually interesting offenseThough I’m usually more of a numbers guy, I’m going qualitative rather than quantitative with this question. For years, we have seen Mike McCarthy roll out the slant/flat concept as practically the only route concept to scheme players open in the passing game. Beyond that, it has been “beat your coverage one-on-one.”Matt LaFleur’s history suggests that his offense will be the antithesis of that. Instead of the static formations that McCarthy tended to use, I expect to see the Packers using motion, play-action, leak routes, and stacked receivers, among other ideas, as ways to get players open. That hopefully will be more effective Jace Sternberger Green Bay Packer , and for fans it should make for a more interesting-looking offense on the field when the Packers have the football.Jon Meerdink - PlayoffsIf football is a results-oriented business, I think the only way I can fairly set my expectations for Matt LaFleur is by setting the bar for where I think the team needs to end up. The Packers need to be in the playoffs. The last time we saw a Packers playoff game, Matt Ryan was slicing and dicing the secondary (RIP Ladarius Gunter and friends). It’s not a good memory, but it was still the playoffs. And had things gone differently, who knows? The Packers may have been in the Super Bowl. Sure, there may have been just a five percent chance, but that’s five percent higher than their chances have been of making a run in the playoffs the last two years.LaFleur needs to get the Packers back to the level where they at least have a theoretical shot at making the Super Bowl. To get to the Super Bowl, you need to be in the playoffs. That’s what LaFleur needs to do. That’s what I think the expectation should be. The Browns reportedly will look to trade Kevin Zeitler this offseason, and the Packers have plenty of reasons to partner on a deal." arrownoyesKim Klement-USA TODAY SportsNFL Trade RumorsPackers should pursue trade for Browns guard Kevin ZeitlerThe Browns reportedly will look to trade Kevin Zeitler this offseason, and the Packers have plenty of reasons to partner on a deal.CSTShareTweetShareSharePackers should pursue trade for Browns guard Kevin ZeitlerSometime between the start of the new league year and the 2019 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers have to plug their longstanding hole at right guard. Though several enticing options exist in free agency and the incoming rookie class, a trade could prove the best way to fill the void.According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Mary Kay Cabot, the Cleveland Browns will look into trading guard Kevin Zeitler. Zeitler originally joined the team in 2017 as a free agent, signing a five-year deal worth $60 million Jace Sternberger Jersey 2019 , then the highest-paying contract for an interior offensive lineman. Zeitler has so far played up to expectation, starting every game over the past two years while yielding only six sacks during that stretch. Zeitler proved particularly dominant as a pass protector in 2018, allowing just 13 total pressures.Normally, players of Zeitler’s caliber don’t become available. However, Browns general manager John Dorsey invested the 33rd overall pick last April in Austin Corbett, a talented guard prospect without a spot on the line. Just as significantly, the team’s investment in Zeitler came before Dorsey’s arrival in Cleveland. With no personal stake in Zeitler and a reason to push someone else into his starting role, Dorsey appears willing to trade the highly paid guard.Though Dorsey could partner with any interested team on a trade, he might first look to his old employer. Dorsey worked in the Packers’ front office for the majority of his career as a scout and executive, leaving Green Bay in 2013 to become GM of the Kansas City Chiefs. Last offseason, Dorsey struck his first trade with the Packers, sending quarterback DeShone Kizer for defensive back Damarious Randall and a swap of picks in the fourth and fifth rounds. Should Dorsey partner with Green Bay again, he would avoid any negative repercussions of sending away a talented guard as the two teams don’t face off until 2021.That combination of factors could benefit the Packers. Since allowing T.J. Lang to depart during the 2017 offseason, they have struggled to find a long-term solution at right guard. The team signed veteran Jahri Evans almost as an afterthought on the eve of the 2017 NFL Draft only to watch him ascend to the top of the depth due to the lack of viable alternatives. Justin McCray and Zeitler either of the next two offseasons without penalty.Zeitler becomes more attractive for the Packers when considering the alternatives. The free-agent pool does contain starting guards such as Rodger Saffold and Ramon Foster Jace Sternberger Jersey Mens , but both fall on the wrong side of 30 and haven’t performed at Zeitler’s level. If either makes it to the market, they will command decently sized contracts without the same level of return as Zeitler.Alternatively, the Packers could draft a guard, but they would risk having a rookie thrown into the fire under a first-time offensive-line coach. Zeitler provides immediate impact while offering the team stability at the position for the foreseeable future. Green Bay could even invest a mid-round pick along the offensive line and allow them to develop behind Zeitler.Of course, Zeitler only makes sense at a reasonable price. The Packers certainly wouldn’t part with one of their top-50 draft selections, but the conversation could begin with their third-round pick and move from there. Gutekunst’s wheeling and dealing from 2018 has added multiple picks to his arsenal, and Green Bay could package one of their fourth-rounders with a late draft choice or minor asset for Zeitler’s services. Such a trade would satisfy the needs of both teams without blowing up either’s offseason plans.Adding Zeitler would reinforce the Packers’ offseason commitment to building the offense. New head coach Matt LaFleur’s offense relies heavily on play-action, often with the quarterback’s back turned to the defense. A porous offensive line could derail the scheme and put Aaron Rodgers at risk. Zeitler would plug the team’s longstanding void at right guard and ease the transition to the new offense. If Cleveland really has placed Zeitler on the trading block, Green Bay will have a hard time finding a more efficient use of their resources.

Close to the halfway point of the season Cameron Smith Jersey nfl draft , I started doing a week to week update of the Vikings playoff chances. Along the way, they’ve had a couple of big wins, a tough loss, and the bye week. And even though the Bears won a big game against Detroit, Minnesota’s playoff chances actually improved this past weekend. How can that be? Well, if you want to go back to the beginning, you can get caught up here, here, and here. If you don’t want to take the time to get caught up, a quick primer, if I may: I’ve been using two sites to help with playoff percentages and seeding, the 538 playoff predictor, and Playoff Predictions dot com, which allow you to waste hours of your day coming up with ‘if-then’ win-loss scenarios to see who is in and who is out of the playoffs. Since we started this, the Vikings chances for a playoff spot haven’t dipped below 50%, but they’ve swung back and forth. This is where they stood after the win against the Jets:After Minnesota lost to the Saints, things were literally 50-50:But after a big bounce back win against their divisional rival Detroit, things looked a lot better:With the Vikings sitting out this past week due to their scheduled bye, their playoff chances improved, but their chances to win the division took a bit of a dip. Wait, how? Well, let’s take a look. First, we go to the 538 playoff model to see where the Vikings, and the rest of the NFC North, now stand:For the first time since we began tracking the post-season chances for the NFC North teams, Chicago now has a greater chance to not only make the playoffs, but to also win the division, thanks to their win against Detroit. But with two games remaining against each other, both the Bears and the Vikings control their own destiny in terms of winning the division Adult Cameron Smith Jersey , and to say Sunday night’s game at Soldier Field is a big game is an understatement. Green Bay doubled their chances to make the playoffs with a win at home against Miami, but still are barely more than a one in five shot. And with Detroit losing to the Bears they’re pretty much done sitting at 3-6.So why did Minnesota’s chances to make the playoffs improve, even though the Bears won and the Vikes were on a bye? Seattle losing to the Rams and the Falcons losing to the Browns (wait what) really helped out the Vikings. Currently, Minnesota is the number six seed, while Green Bay is seventh at 4-4-1 and the only other team in the NFC at .500 or better. Had Seattle and Atlanta won, the Vikings would still be the sixth seed, but the Falcons and Seahawks would be right behind them at 5-4, with Green Bay moving down to the ninth seed. However, by dropping to 4-5, Minnesota’s playoff chances ticked up a bit because of the dearth of teams with a winning record behind them. Most of us thought the Lions had a puncher’s chance in Chicago, and had they been able to upset the Bears, Minnesota would have really been sitting a lot prettier in terms of winning the division. They would be the NFC North leader, the Bears would be the sixth seed, and although Detroit would still be a longshot to make the playoffs, they would be one of five teams at 4-5 and within shouting distance of the sixth seed. As it is, they’re the 13th seed in the NFC and are closer to a top ten pick (currently seventh in the draft order) then they are the playoffs. But we’re sitting up straight and respecting the process, anyway.Lastly, let’s play a little ‘what if’ regarding some earlier games, thanks to the playoff projections site. And once again, let’s go back to week two, and the 29-29 tie Minnesota had with Green Bay. Had the Vikings pulled out a win, they are currently the number four seed and division leader, with Chicago securing a wildcard spot as the number five seed. But if Green Bay had won that game, the Bears are the number three seed, Green Bay is the number six and ekes in as a wildcard, and the Vikings are on the outside looking in. Let’s go back even further, to week one, and let’s say the Aaron Rodgers comeback falls short and the Bears hold on. In that case, whether Green Bay won Big And Tall Cameron Smith Jersey , tied, or lost to the Vikings the following week, they would be buried in the NFC at 4-5, 3-5-1 or 3-6, and the Bears would have a hammerlock on the number three seed. As the season gets later, that game looms larger and larger in terms of division standings, maybe even more than the week 2 tie between the Vikes and the Packers. With each passing week, the stakes get higher and the games become more important. Besides Minnesota’s game against Chicago, the Packers and the Seahawks are trying to keep their playoff chances alive on Thursday. Both teams already have less than a 30% chance to make the playoffs (Seattle sits at 29%), and a loss at home to Green Bay would essentially eliminate them at 4-6. At 23%, Green Bay would just as likely be finished with a loss, as a 4-5-1 record would drop them to the ninth seed in the NFC with some tough games left.Skol VIkings, let’s bury those Soldier Field demons once and for all.Minnesota Vikings vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Three things to watch The Minnesota Vikings finally get a rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles after that atrocious performance by Minnesota. It’s not an ideal time to play the Eagles, due to the direction the season has been going. However, this is also the best time to turn things around, and what a momentum-swinger it would be for the season if the Vikings pull it off. Here are three things to keep an eye out for:3. George Iloka will get snaps on defenseWhen Iloka was signed, it was sort of a big deal. Iloka was a known name, someone who Zimmer knew well during his time in Cincinnati. However, he hasn’t played any snaps on defense, at least from what I know. If he did, it may have been one or two plays. He’s been dormant for the most part. So, when will the Vikes begin to plug him in? I’ll be honest, I’m not to familiar with defensive schemes, I sometimes notice things that don’t seem right. Based off what I’ve seen, something isn’t right, and really it can’t get any worse when trying to plug Iloka in. I’ve heard some social media talk regarding where Iloka would fit best. I don’t know how it would work, or if it would, but Anthony Barr could be moved to defensive end, and Iloka would take Barr’s spot. Zimmer has said that Barr has great speed off the edge. 2. Aldrick Robinson’s productivity Robinson will reign over Laquon Treadwell. After a two touchdown performance Cameron Smith Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , and the chemistry that was seen between Cousins and Robinson, he deserves more looks. Before last Sunday’s game, Robinson’s last, and only NFL touchdown came back in the 2012 preseason. You guessed right, it was no other than Cousins who threw him the pass. A lot of fans were worried about the lack of catches, in regards to how many passes he was thrown. He’s known to be able to stretch the field, so those targets were mainly from deep ball passes, and Robinson being the intended receiver when a quarterback is being pressured. Robinson will emerge as a solid third wideout throughout the season. Heck, if you’re looking for a sleeper in fantasy, I’d pick him up. High-risk, high-reward type player. 1. Emergence of a new leader on defenseThere has been a leadership void during the time Everson Griffen has been out. The defense looks like a hot mess, and someone needs to step up and be a solid defensive leader. If I were to pick on who should emerge as a leader, or will emerge as a leader is Eric Kendricks. Xavier Rhodes is kicking penalty flags like a child, Harrison Smith is a quite leader I feel like, and not the vocal leader Griffen has been. Sheldon Richardson could step up, Danielle Hunter, too. The Vikings have so much defensive talent, just no one who can calm them down or amp them up. Bold prediction:With the way the Eagles run defense is, Minnesota will find themselves airing the ball out a lot during the game. Cousins will throw for 475 yards, and three touchdowns against the Eagles’ defense. Smith will find another interception today, I feel like he’s been close to grabbing one in almost every game. Anthony Barr in somehow, someway will redeem himself for his lackluster performances so far this season. Latavius Murray gets a few big breaks, and grabs one rushing touchdown, with 85 yards off of 15 carries. Vikings pull it off in a shoot-out, 32-31.

White Doug Middleton Jerseys , having held out until he got a new deal. But the Cowboys defensive end, who signed his $105 million deal on Tuesday, had no plans to pull a Le'Veon Bell and sit out the season in the absence of a long-term agreement before the July 15 deadline.“You ain’t got to worry about that. It wasn’t going to be a Le’Veon situation. I ain’t skipping $20 million for nobody,” Lawrence said at a press conference, via NFL Media.Bell sat out last season after the Steelers used the franchise tag on him a second consecutive year, forgoing $14.5 million. He signed with the Jets this offseason.Lawrence was set to make $20.5 million this season under a second franchise tag. He was expected to sit out the offseason program without a long-term deal, but it was uncertain whether he would skip training camp and/or all or part of the season. It no longer matters as the Cowboys made Lawrence the highest-paid player in their history.“The contract is a big accomplishment, but my goal is still to get a [Pro Football Hall of Fame] gold jacket,” Lawrence said. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP)Quincy Enunwa was coming off a breakout season and looking to establish himself last summer as a big-time playmaker for the New York Jets.In one scary moment, that came to an abrupt halt. The wide receiver was running a route when he dropped a pass during 7-on-7 drills. He took a step and fell to the turf face-first despite not having been touched. He didn’t move for a few moments. His neck wouldn’t let him.Fear set in Doug Middleton Jerseys 2019 , if only briefly, that Enunwa’s football career could be in jeopardy.”At the beginning,” he recalled after a recent training camp practice, ”definitely.”Enunwa had a bulging disk in his neck, the culmination of problems he had been dealing with for most of the last several months. He had surgery a few weeks later and was reassured he would be able to play again. But first there would be several months of grueling rehab.”I knew physically, there was no way that I would not be back on the field,” Enunwa said. ”I knew I would hit every timetable and do everything I needed to do. I have confidence in myself as a physical guy, so I knew I was going to do the work and get back as soon as possible.”Enunwa’s comeback appears nearly complete. After sitting out offseason workouts and participating on a limited basis in minicamp, the former Nebraska star has been practicing every day during training camp.”It feels really good, yeah,” he said. ”I mean White Brandon Copeland Jerseys , there are really no issues. I’m having fun, flying around. I can’t complain.”Enunwa is still wearing a red, no-contact pinnie during padded practices, but hopes to shed that soon.”I’d say it’s protocol,” he said. ”I’m just going on their kind of timeline, doing what I need to do, but I’m having fun, though.”Coach Todd Bowles wouldn’t declare Enunwa as being at ”full speed” just yet.”He’s doing everything, but it’s just precautionary,” Bowles said. ”We’ll find a time and place and see if we get it right.”Enunwa was a sixth-round draft pick of the Jets in 2014 and saw limited action in his first two seasons. In 2016, he emerged as a vital part of the offense by working in a hybrid wide receiver/tight end/H-back role and setting career highs with 58 catches for 857 yards and four touchdowns.Even more was expected going into last season – until the injury short-circuited those plans. The doctors took a cautious approach with Enunwa’s rehab Brandon Copeland Jerseys 2019 , not wanting to rush him back. But as the Jets trudged through a 5-11 season, Enunwa wished he could help.”Physically, I was able to, but they told me not to,” he said. ”So, it was kind of just sitting around and doing bike stuff, so those were the times when I was really anxious to get back out there to run and catch passes.”He has been doing exactly that during the first four practices of camp, including catching a touchdown toss from rookie Sam Darnold in team drills Monday.Enunwa says his days of being an H-back are over – ”I was drafted as a receiver and I want to play receiver – and he helps give the Jets an intriguing group that also includes Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse and Terrelle Pryor.”It’s great to have Q back out there,” quarterback Josh McCown said. ”Just his energy and his work ethic is great to have on the field.”At 6-foot-2 and a well-chiseled 225 pounds, the 26-year-old Enunwa is a physical specimen. With his mix of size White Trumaine Johnson Jerseys , strength and speed, he reminds McCown of a former star teammate.”I had the opportunity to play with Anquan Boldin and Quincy kind of has that after-catch, that tough mentality,” McCown said. ”Every day he’s on the field with us and is back I think is a good day for us.”This is a big year for Enunwa, and not just because of his comeback. He signed his second-round restricted free agent tender in April, and could potentially be an unrestricted free agent next offseason.”That next contract is what everybody wants to get to,” Enunwa said. ”So I’m definitely looking forward to just playing my best right now. I’m not thinking too much about the contract because I have my own personal goals, and I know that those personal goals will help the team’s goals and will eventually help my contract goals.”So, for me, it’s just going out there and performing and showing what I can do.”—

General Discussion / Here comes Who Dey vs. Who Dat.Say what?
« on: December 24, 2019, 03:05:48 AM »
The Who Dat folks from New Orleans go head-on with the Who Dey fans in Cincinnati on Sunday. And don’t ask which group first came up with its catchy phrase and odd rendering of the English language.“Who Dey? I don’t understand. I’m baffled Danny Shelton Jerseys 2019 ,” says Saints running back Mark Ingram. “It’s like, did they copy us? Or not? I don’t know. Who Dat! Who Dat! Who Dat! …”What anyone might ask is whether the Saints (7-1), coming off three huge victories, including handing the Rams their first loss, are ripe for a letdown. Drew Brees and company face Philadelphia next week.“They’re going to be hungry coming off the bye week,” Ingram says of the Bengals. “They have playoff aspirations. They have aspirations of winning their division. So every game is important to them just like it is to us. So we’re going up there in foreign territory, hostile territory, and we’ve got to go make it happen. We’re a good team. We respect them but we’re always worried about this building, this team, what we need to do to put ourselves in position to have success.”It might be difficult for New Orleans to find a way to lose this one, though. In the past three games, the Bengals (5-3) have given up 481 yards to Pittsburgh, then 551 to Kansas City and 576 to Tampa Bay.Granted, those are three of the NFL’s top attacks. The Saints are up there, too, so if Cincinnati gives up 500 yards Sunday, it will become the first team to allow 500 in three consecutive games.“We’re underachieving right now,” defensive end Carlos Dunlap admits. “We’re playing well enough to win some games, which is why we’re 5-3. If we work on the negatives, we can be that elite defense and that elite team.”Right now, the eliteness is in the Big Easy“They go as Brees goes White Josh Gordon Jerseys ,” Dunlap adds. “We’ve got to find a way to slow down that future Hall of Famer.”The weekend began Thursday night with Pittsburgh’s 52-21 home victory over Carolina. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 328 yards and five touchdowns to help the Steelers (6-2-1) win their fifth straight. The Panthers (6-3) had won three in a row.Off this week are Minnesota (5-3-1), Denver (3-6), Baltimore (4-5) and Houston (6-3).Dallas (3-5) at Philadelphia (4-4)For the Cowboys to stay real in the NFC East, they need a quick reversal of fortune. With four of those five losses coming on the road, a visit to the Linc isn’t all that enticing. These teams meet on “Sunday Night Football” for the 10th consecutive season and 12th time overall. Dallas must find a passing game somewhere, and spring Ezekiel Elliott for some big plays, but the blocking unit has declined significantly. The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles are 17-5 at home under coach Doug Pederson. Carson Wentz has thrown at least one TD with no more than one interception in 21 straight games, tied with Matt Ryan for the longest streak in NFL history. He has a new target in Golden Tate. The wideout was obtained from Detroit, for which he had eight catches for 132 yards and two TDs vs. the Cowboys on Sept. 30.Seattle (4-4) at Los Angeles Rams (8-1)Coming off their first defeat, the Rams will remember they struggled to win 33-31 at Seattle last month. A victory would give LA a 4½-game edge in the NFC West and pretty much shut it down. Both teams boast potent ground games, with the big star being LA’s Todd Gurley. The Rams are No. 1 in the NFL with Gurley at 868 yards rushing; he also has 12 TD runs; he has scored in 12 consecutive games, the longest regular-season streak in team history. The Seahawks are tops in rushing since Week 3 with 159.8 yards per game after concentrating more on the ground game following an 0-2 start.Arizona (2-6) at Kansas City (8-1)The Cardinals are 0-4-1 at Kansas City, and this isn’t exactly the best time to be visiting. Arizona has the NFL’s worst offense and ranks 31st in pass defense. All the Chiefs do, with Patrick Mahomes, Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, is score, score and score some more. But Cardinals star receiver Larry Fitzgerald could make some history. Fitzgerald needs 33 yards receiving to pass Terrell Owens (15,934) for second in NFL history. Fitz needs 14 receptions to pass Jerry Rice (San Francisco, 1,281) for the NFL record for receptions with one team.Detroit (3-5) at Chicago (5-3)A very lopsided series recently in favor of Detroit Josh Gordon Jerseys 2019 , which has won nine of 10. Indeed, Chicago hasn’t won an NFC North game in its past 10 attempts. But the Lions allowed 10 sacks — yes, 10 — to Minnesota last week, and Chicago has an even better defense than the Vikings. The Bears also are decently balanced and rank fifth in scoring. Still, their calling card is on D, and they scored twice that way against Buffalo: Eddie Jackson’s 65-yard fumble recovery and Leonard Floyd’s 19-yard interception return.Washington (5-3) at Tampa Bay (3-5)The Redskins were routed at home by Atlanta last weekend and lost three key players, including both starting guards. Adrian Peterson has three consecutive 100-yard rushing games against Tampa Bay, including last year with the Cardinals. Can he find room to roam behind a makeshift offensive line?Tampa sure can pass and sure can score, but it often falls so far behind that it can’t catch up. The Bucs have been outscored 103-27 in the first half of Ryan Fitzpatrick’s past three starts, all losses.Still, Fitzpatrick has three games with four or more TD passes, the most in the NFC this season, and has been much better than erstwhile starter Jameis Winston.New England (7-2) at Tennessee (4-4)Here we go again: New England is on a roll as Tom Brady makes everyone around him better. The Patriots have won six straight (seven in a row overall against Tennessee). Brady will play in his 300th game, including postseason, and will join Brett Favre (326) as the only NFL quarterbacks to appear in 300 games. Brady needs three TD passes to tie Peyton Manning (579) for the most in NFL history, also including playoffs.Tennessee comes off a solid victory at Dallas and coach Mike Vrabel had his biggest playing days in New England, where he won three titles.“We’ve just gotten ourselves to the surface where there’s a little bit of air, a little bit of water,” Vrabel says. “You’re kind of taking a little bit of both in and you can’t survive there for long. But you can survive there for a few minutes. And so we got to make the next decision to see if we can get our heads completely above water.”Atlanta (4-4) at Cleveland (2-6-1)Injuries seemed to ruin the Falcons‘ season, yet here they are at .500 and with six games upcoming against teams currently owning losing records. Matt Ryan is having an outstanding year, even while overshadowed in the NFC South by Brees and Cam Newton. With 13 yards receiving Sunday White Jonathan Jones Jerseys , Julio Jones will reach 10,000 in his career and become the fastest player to reach that milestone (104 games). The Browns have dropped four straight, and are 0-1 under interim coach Gregg Williams. But their .786 winning percentage (11-3) against the Falcons is the team’s highest against any opponent.Los Angeles Chargers (6-2) at Oakland (1-7)Another guy not getting enough recognition for a superb passing season is Philip Rivers while Patrick Mahomes grabs the AFC West headlines. Playing the woeful Raiders shouldn’t hurt Rivers’ resume: He has completed 75 of 100 passes for 994 yards, six TDs and no INTs in his past three outings vs. Oakland for a 126.0 rating.Plus, the Chargers have won five straight for their best record at the season’s midpoint since 2006.Meanwhile, the Raiders are such a mess that they have been outscored 55-3 over the past five quarters and are allowing a 113.9 passer rating, on pace for the worst in franchise history.Miami (5-4) at Green Bay (3-4-1)Somehow, the Dolphins are a wild-card contender despite being outgained by 704 yards and outscored by 38 points. Much of that can be attributed to the past three road games, in which they were outscored 107-47.On the bright side, Miami ranks first with 15 interceptions, including four last week against the Jets.Aaron Rodgers, of course, doesn’t throw picks. Rodgers has thrown 15 touchdowns to one interception, leading the league with a 0.3 percent interception percentage. And RB Aaron Jones leads the NFL at 6.03 yards per carry.Jacksonville (3-5) at Indianapolis (3-5)Two 3-5 marks that look much different. Jacksonville has dropped four in a row and is among the most disappointing clubs in football. Indy is giving a decent accounting of itself despite a lack of talent. There’s plenty of skill at quarterback, however. Andrew Luck, who missed 2017 with a shoulder injury, is back in fine form and has not been sacked in his past 154 pass attempts dating to the second offensive play against New England on Oct. 4. It’s the longest stretch of his pro career.Colts K Adam Vinatieri will be honored for breaking the NFL’s career scoring record two weeks ago at Oakland. Vinatieri needs one win to tie George Blanda (209) for most regular-season wins in league history.Buffalo (2-6) at New York Jets (3-6)With all that record scoring throughout the league, this could be an 8-5 snoozer.Sam Darnold has regressed behind center for the Jets and now has a foot injury. But let’s be fair: Darnold has very little help, especially with versatile RB Bilal Powell on IR. Last year’s starter, veteran QB Josh McCown, steps in.As for Buffalo Jonathan Jones Jerseys 2019 , well, maybe getting rid of Tyrod Taylor wasn’t such a wise move.New York Giants (1-7) at San Francisco (2-7), Monday nightThis isn’t likely to be as much of a sleep-inducer as Bills-Jets. At least a national TV audience gets to watch Saquon Barkley, the most dynamic rookie to hit New York since Odell Beckham Jr. — and without all the baggage.San Francisco has its own intriguing story after rookie QB Nick Mullens tore up Bay Area rival Oakland last week. Mullens joined Hall of Famers Jim Kelly and Fran Tarkenton as the only players with at least 250 yards passing, three TDs and no INTs in his career debut. The #PFTPM podcast gives me a way to react to news that emerges during the day (after concludes), to answer questions from you, and/or to babble on and on about whatever I’d like to babble on and on about. Sometimes, in the process of babbling on and on about something, I get an idea. While discussing the status of Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott‘s holdout and the latest offer that reportedly was made to Elliott by the them, it occurred to me that, at their core, these contractual conundrums that the Cowboys currently are confronting reflect deep-seated envy of a franchise that has appeared in 10 Super Bowls since the last time the Cowboys played in the NFL’s championship game. Indeed, the Cowboys haven’t even been back to the NFC title game during a 23-year run that has included 10 AFC championship and six Super Bowl trophies for the New England Patriots, eclipsing along the way the five that the Cowboys won from 1971 through 1995.The Patriots have mastered the ability to persuade players to take less than full market value, which has become a key ingredient in both holding together a nucleus of great talent and having enough cap space left to maintain a solid middle class of backups who can step in when injuries inevitably happen. The Cowboys, who currently have the most talent they’ve had since the salary cap began to chip away at the Jimmy Johnson-built roster that won three titles in four years from 1992 through 1995, are trying to impose that mindset on their players, but they can’t. And it seems to be driving them a little batty.Yes, it’s good to have a bunch of great players. And now the Cowboys will either do what the Vikings have done, paying all of them at or close to market value and hoping for the best when it comes to the second- and third-string players, or persuade the likes of Elliott and Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper to act like Patriots.Of course White Ja’Whaun Bentley Jersey , the envy between the franchises quite possibly runs both ways. No matter how many championships the Patriots win, the Cowboys remain America’s Team, drawing eyeballs like no one else, even in down years. Still, it’s better to have the championships, and the Cowboys want more of them. They’ll be more likely to get more if they can get their best players to do what most of the best Patriots players always do: Take less. The only problem for the Cowboys is that Zeke, Dak, and Amari aren’t inclined to do that. Earlier this year, Prescott made it clear that a team-friendly deal is an unfriendly proposition. “Nobody’s wife makes as much money as [Tom Brady’s] wife does,” Prescott told said at the time. “When Tom Brady isn’t the breadwinner in the home, then that’s a great problem to have.”This means that the Cowboys eventually have to choose between finding a way to make it work (even if they end up with a subpar collection of backups) or making tough decisions about trading certain players or letting them become free agents, relying on the organization’s ability to draft and develop cheaper replacements. It would be a lot easier if the best players would simply take less, like the best Patriots do. The sooner the Cowboys realize that’s just not happening, the sooner they’ll get these contractual disputes resolved, one way or the other.
